Agencies can produce excellent events. But they create dependency. Each new event requires a brief, a quote, a design round, a build phase, and a set of approvals. The organisation never owns the platform or the data. When the agency relationship ends, so does the institutional knowledge.

Okupio is designed for organisations that want to own their event capability in-house. Once the platform is set up with your brand, any team member can build and publish a new event in a few hours. The registration data, the attendee records, and the compliance documentation belong to your organisation, not to a supplier.

For organisations running more than ten events a year, the cost of agency dependency typically far exceeds the cost of an Okupio plan. Beyond cost, the operational risk is significant — a single agency error on a registration form can create compliance and reputational problems that take weeks to resolve.

Okupio does not replace everything an agency does. Production-heavy set-piece conferences with large stage builds, multiple AV crews and complex logistics still benefit from agency support. But the event registration, the landing page, the CPD tracking and the reporting do not need to be agency-managed.

Eventbrite is a capable platform for consumer events. It handles ticketing, basic registration and discovery well. However, it is built for events where public discoverability and ticket sales volume are the primary goals — not for the professional, compliance-driven, relationship-focused events that regulated organisations run.

Eventbrite does not offer CPD certificate generation, session-level Q&A moderation, speaker portals, custom consent tracking aligned to GDPR requirements, or the kind of reporting that organisations need to present event ROI to leadership teams.

Eventbrite events are listed publicly on the Eventbrite directory, which is appropriate for public-facing events but unsuitable for invitation-only programmes, client education events, or events where the attendee list is commercially sensitive.
